Form, Cluster, Space

Perception of shape, form and space  in humans is a gradual progression in that order since birth.

Natural shapes, beginning with mother's face, are recognized first... when depth perception begins, the whole new fascinating world of natural forms opens up for the human child.

 

Making physical models is essential to learning about shape, form and space for skill development through hands on diligent practice. This can be done in many ways...

 

•By observing, selecting and rejecting shapes from scrap to create familiar three dimensional forms 

 

•Making collage out of two dimensional scrap of color and textures 

 

•Making repetitive three dimensional forms to acquire perfection in cutting, shaping and joinery of materials 

 

These exercises lead to understanding relationship between built forms and in between spaces through cluster making...

 

 

 

 

 

The development of motor skills in the nimble fingers and hands result in creative exploration of shapes and forms that are man made...
