Hopefully you have become 'Design Wise' after one year of foundation studies in the form of Basic Design and have had a brush with conceptual relationship between form and function through simple shelter and space making as architectural design exercises.
Second year is the time to learn 'Architectural Design' through a process. Process, as defined in the Oxford dictionary is series of actions or operations directed toward a particular result (manufacturing something), a natural phenomenon marked by gradual changes that lead toward a particular result.
In the real world an overwhelming number of decisions need to be taken to arrive at a design decision. This calls for an effective design process which takes into account each design task and individual activities of the project. In a design process the following elements are universally common:
Project Programming
Case Study of Similar Projects, Evaluation, Feedback and Inferences
Conceptual Ideas based on Site, Context, Culture, Climate and Technology
Project Planning based on Cost or Affordability
These elements require a rational decision making process in an orderly sequence.
